 When Joe and I want to spend a relaxing day together we often enjoy the scenic drive to the quaint hamlet of Pittsboro. It’s a pleasant 25 miles away, through rolling hills, cow pastures, and old country homes. Typically, we stop by a national park and mix in some hiking for me, and of course good food for Joe. On this day The General Store Café proved to be a treat, one of our favorite stops in Pittsboro.

The outside is inviting, large glass windows adorned with plants and local artwork. Come inside, you’ll notice more plants, more art, and cozy tables inviting you to sit down and relax with a friend or a book in this comfy, cool atmosphere. Toward the back you will notice the coffee counter and the deli area, adorned with homemade tuna and chicken salad, muffins, breads, pies, and cakes made from scratch. Another room opens up in the back with additional seating, a full service bar stocked with local brews, and a stage for live music and almost nightly special events. [ Read the full article ] »
