Chocolate Nut Chewies

I wanted to make Foodie a little treat to warm his belly in the cold, winter weather and these Chocolate Nut Chewies seemed perfect! They are a crisp, chewy, chocolate treat and are easy to make. The walnuts and oats pack a little nutrition so don’t feel guilty! Just enjoy!

1 6 oz. package semi sweet chocolate pieces

1 stick butter softened

1 cup sugar

1 egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup flour

1 quarter teaspoon baking soda

1 quarter teaspoon salt

1 cup finely chopped walnuts

2/3 cup quick cooking oats

Preheat oven to 350. Melt chocolate pieces over double boiler. Remove from heat. Set aside. Cream butter with sugar until fluffy. Beat in egg, vanilla and melted chocolate. Add flour, baking soda and salt, mixing until just combined. Stir in walnuts and oats.

Roll dough into balls, place on parchment lined cookie sheet. Flatten each ball. Bake 12-15 minutes. Makes about two dozen.

Savor on,

Marney
